About The District Cup
The game of Polo has been played on the National Mall since the early 1900s. Building off of this 100+ year tradition, The District Cup (TDC) is an organization that hosts an annual charity Polo tournament on the National Mall to raise money to support underserved youth from the greater Washington DC area.
This premiere event has become a major Washington DC sporting, social and cultural gathering, attracting thousands of guests from around the world, including young professionals, Diplomats, Members of Congress, C-Suite executives, and more to watch elite athletes play the oldest team sport in the world on the National Mall.
Our mission is to support the greater Washington DC area through charity initiatives and by driving economic development for the region. Over the last six years, TDC has donated over $200,000 to local charities and generated millions of dollars for our local business partners in the hospitality, catering, production, and transportation industries—including $1.5 million for minority and women-owned businesses.
This event is more than a match; it is a chance to witness elite athletes compete in the oldest team sport in the world, all while making a difference for our community. At our signature DC summer cultural and social event, young professionals from across the DMV will ditch the overcrowded bars to drink champagne on the National Mall while only feet away from the action. If guests want a break from the games, they can head to one of the culinary exhibitions in the Polo Pavilion, fitted with luxury seating, elegant bars, and exclusive VIP areas.
